What We Do

Since 2016, we have led an effort to provide nourishing meals to men, women, and children in need in the Charlotte area.

 

Our Mission

Make a measurable difference in the fight against hunger by arming food service providers with the tools and information they need to take good, pre-consumer foods that are normally thrown away and create and distribute bulk meals or stew components for soup kitchens and pantries.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

  • From March 2020 to May 2022, we collected and donated 1,524 bags of frozen food (totaling 31,810 lbs) from the CRVA/Charlotte Convention Center alone (1 lb. equates to 1 meal/person)

  • Through Dr. Ben Chapman’s food rescue method, restaurants and catering companies are able to upcycle their food that has not been cross-contaminated, diverting it from landfills and combustion facilities

  • Before COVID, the different participants involved rescued and donated approximately 60,000 lbs of food to those in need in the Greater Charlotte area

  • This program’s food donations contribute to food kitchens, such as A Roof Above, that feed 250 people every day. Our goal is to help their kitchen reach even higher goals.
